AMD’s Pensando family of DPUs takes a system approach, including a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) approach to optimizing compute and infrastructure resources. Pensando DPUs support the P4 programming language and can be used to enable a smart switch, deployed in the cloud or at the edge. The Pensando Elba P4-programmable DPU enables wirespeed performance and enhances security through an isolated enforcement policy.

As a Top Implementer among Intelligent Accelerator Providers, AMD partners with VMware to enable bare metal hosted services and virtualized environments to unify workload management. AMD’s Pensando Distributed Services Card DPU can be deployed through several channels, including through data center server providers such as HPE and Dell Technologies. Customers can also opt for HPE’s PointNext services or through the GreenLake asa-service platform.

AMD targets public cloud providers and enterprise customers, with deployments in production at Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and IBM Cloud. AMD currently has close to 200+ customers in production worldwide. AMD provides both hardware DPUs and a complete software stack for customers and partners, as well as direct support to cloud hyperscalers.
