Could the 2025 Launch of Windows 12 Spark an Arm-Powered Step-Change in the PC Market Landscape?

Qualcomm recently announced the launch of its Arm-based “budget-friendly” Snapdragon X Plus 8-core chip, which includes Artificial Intelligence (AI) benefits through the use of Microsoft’s Copilot+. This push toward embedded AI chips in the PC market, along with Microsoft’s introduction of a new category of Windows PCs designed for AI (Copilot+ PCs), is set to spark a noticeable change in attitudes toward compute in the sector. However, a major turning point in the laptop sector could occur in 2025 with the expected launch of Windows 12. Not only is this expected to be a major AI-focused Windows release that will integrate more AI-specific features and utilize AI hardware, but also has the potential to force a significant hardware refresh for many companies.
