Nomi and ShopperTrak Top ABI Research’s Retail Analytics Vendor Competitive Assessment

02 Feb 2015

In its latest competitive assessment, In-Store Retail Analytics Companies, ABI Research compares the leading retail analytics companies in this space across 14 parameters to determine the best placed to succeed. For the first time there is a tie for first place between ShopperTrak and Nomi (Brickstream), followed by market share leader Irisys.

Senior Analyst Patrick Connolly commented, “The retail analytics competitive environment is unrecognizable to that of 2 years ago in terms of new entrants, yet the impetus is still with the established players. Nomi (formerly Brickstream) and ShopperTrak top the overall vendor matrix, embracing new in-store analytics, wide-ranging data analytics, as well as regular product updates. Both have a strong history and installed base in this space, supporting stereoscopic camera analytics, while also growing internationally. Irisys is clearly the market leader on market share, and scored highest for implementation. It is also making up lost ground on innovation, having announced a new BLE beacon technology at NRF 2015."

Of the newer companies in this space, RetailNext ticks a lot of boxes, scoring highest for innovation, and appears well placed to achieve strong adoption in the next 3 years. Not only is it embracing new in-store technology, but is also looking beyond the store at ongoing, related analytics and drivers/inhibitors. Cloud-based companies like Prism Skylabs, 3VR, and Cognimatics are starting to make significant inroads with new value propositions and support from major camera OEMs, while 3D sensing start-up Shopperception is leading the next wave of camera analytics innovation.
